Hello ... may I kindly ask if you would be able to circulate to all your members the opportunity to write a short article on "Tracing Your Irish Ancestors in England". I am keen to reach out to family historians who have had roots in Ireland and their Ancestors came and settled in England. We have around 1200 members - local and worldwide. The closing date is 31 Jan 2024. I would be happy to share a 'best practice example' too. Thank you Audrey McKeown (Dr)
Great news!!! You may not have used the beta testing for ordering images of certificates at the discounted price of £2.50, but I have just received communication from them that the beta test is now over and will be open to all to use.
The years are limited to those given below, but the other years are still available to order, many with a .pdf file rather than paying full price.
We are now in a position to provide Public Beta access to all for the service from today, 6th July 2023. This means that anyone will be able to access the service through GOV.UK
The records available are the same as for Private Beta as follows:
Historic Birth Records from 1837 – 100 years ago (from current date)
Due to the access problems in William Brown Street and St John's Gardens over the next couple of weeks due to the Eurovision schedule, we have postponed our next meeting that should have been held on 9th May 2023 until 23rd May 2023.
The subject will remain the same - Hospital Records by Paul Keogh at 5.45 pm 4th Floor Liverpool Central Library.
This is a very exciting offer by the Familysearch.org site. Be aware that this is NOT a research service, you need to have found record with an icon that has a camera (digitized) with a key over the top. This generally means the images can only be seen at the FHL in Salt Lake City or in a Family History Centre or FamilySearch Affiliate.
Thanks to Kathy, we have the opening times for the library and Archives.
Liverpool Archives new opening times.

Access to Microfilm cabinets is now allowed.
There will be some social distancing still in place on the Microfilms and computers.
She was in the library at the time of sending this information and was informed that the microfilm cabinets will remain locked. The staff only found out at short notice. The staff are willing to get the reels out if you have travelled. The catalogues are back on the shelves.
The Society is also looking for speakers for our Zoom talks, do you have some research you could build into a talk, or have a specialist knowledge about a subject we family historians would find of interest? Please contact our administrator on zoom-admin@lswlfhs.org.uk
