Great news!!! You may not have used the beta testing for ordering images of certificates at the discounted price of £2.50, but I have just received communication from them that the beta test is now over and will be open to all to use.
The years are limited to those given below, but the other years are still available to order, many with a .pdf file rather than paying full price.

We are now in a position to provide Public Beta access to all for the service from today, 6th July 2023. This means that anyone will be able to access the service through GOV.UK
The records available are the same as for Private Beta as follows:
Historic Birth Records from 1837 – 100 years ago (from current date)
Historic Death Records 1837 – 1887
